THURSDAY, 1.00PM:
KENYA’S national cricket team face New Zealand’s test side in a three-day Test match starting on Thursday. New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming, who arrived in Nairobi with the team on on Tuesday, said they want to help improve the standard of cricket in Kenya.
New Zealand coach Steve Rixon said he will not underestimate the Kenyans. He said despite injuries of some of his best players, they will give Kenya a run for their money. “I’ve a lot of respect for the Kenyan team. They’re coming up very well with promising players like Thomas Odoyo. There’s a great future for Kenya in cricket,” said Rixon.
Kenya will be without skipper Maurice Odumbe, who plays professional cricket in Holland, Tariq Iqbal and Sandip Gupta.
