New features, new faces

Veteran Mail & Guardian journalist Fiona Macleod has been promoted to assistant editor from the beginning of February. She will also be responsible for heading the paper’s revitalised environmental coverage.

The position of chief sub-editor which she has vacated has been filled by Tracy Spencer.

This week we launch a new section for the benefit of our readers. Monitor will track issues of development, governance and transformation during a crucial period in the country’s history.

This week we grapple with the difficulties of local governments battling to deliver without the financial wherewithal, and some of the complexities involved in land redistributiion in KwaZulu-Natal.

Monitor will be coupled with a section called Notice Board which will give an added quality of display to the notices and tender advertisments in the paper.
