NAMIBIA DEFEATS BOLAND A

“WONDERFUL. It’s a smashing dramatic victory. It means Namibia could even finish second on the log standings,” said Namibian Cricket Board president Laurie Pieters, when he announced the national team’s one-run victory over Boland A in a three-day match on Sunday. Namibia accumulated 240 runs, dismissing Boland A for 239 with James Kirtley taking 5/58. The victory in Brackenfell, near Cape Town puts Namibia into second place with 50 points, with Zimbabwe taking the honours in the group and Border third with 48 points. The victory, Namibia’s second this season, also augers well for the future of the local game as Namibia finished bottom of the log during last season’s competition.
