ILLEGALS ARRESTED

SOLDIERS and police in Northern Province arrested over 2300 illegal immigrants in January, said provincial spokesperson for the South African National Defence Force, Major Santie Oberholzer, on Tuesday. She said most of the 2333 arrested aliens were Zimbabweans, while 21 were Mozambicans and another 20 came from other countries to find work as cheap labour on commercial farms. The other illegal immigrants came from countries such as Malawi, Pakistan, Botswana, Burundi (1), Zambia (5), India (2), Tanzania (1) and Senegal (1).
