Frank Pooe and Abner Chipu finished third and fourth in the Boston marathon on Monday — in their first marathon outside of South Africa. The event was won by Joseph Chebet in 2hrs9mins52secs, the ninth straight time the race has been won by a Kenyan. In the women’s race, Fatuma Roba of Ethiopa became the second runner to win three straight Boston marathons. South Africa’s Colleen De Reuck finished fourth in 2:27:53.
