NO DECISION IN LUYT APPEAL

THE Constitutional Court on Tuesday adjourned without making a decision on the application by Federal Alliance leader Louis Luyt requesting that five judges recuse themselves from a case involving himself and President Nelson Mandela. Luyt alleges the five judges — Arthur Chaskalson, Johann Kriegler, Pius Langa, Albie Sachs and Zac Yacoob — should not hear the application as they may be biased in favour of Mandela. Mandela is appealing against a ruling by the Pretoria High Court that overturned his earlier decision to appoint the Browde commission of inquiry to investigate Sarfu’s affairs.
