TSOGO SUN DROPS CASE

THE Tsogo Sun group withdrew its application against KwaZulu-Natal premier Lionel Mtshali regarding casino licences in Durban. The group will pay all court costs. No reason was given for the withdrawal. The move comes while opposition parties in the province are complaining about the Inkatha Freedom Party’s Gambling Amendment Bill and what the call the IFP’s attempts to “ram [the bill] down [opposition] throats”. The ANC says it will oppose the Bill, while the DP wishes it to be withdrawn until after the election. Delays in licencing attributed to the Bill by opposition parties could delay the receipt of some R7-billion in expected casino investment.
