STOPFORTH, VEENDENDAL TO APPEAL IN SEPTEMBER

THE appeals of far-rightists Daryll Stopforth and Leonard Veenendal against the refusal of their applications for the suspension of the decision to extradite them to Namibia will be heard by the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein on September 7. The extradition of Stopforth and Veendendal was applied for by the Namibian government on June 16, 1990 on allegations of murder, theft of a vehicle and possession of a machine gun and explosives. The charges arise from an attack on the Untag offices at Outjo on August 10, 1989. They and Austrian Horst Klenz were arrested after the attack, but managed to escape to South Africa. Kleinz is presently serving a sentence for far-right activities in South Africa.
