THE second of two men critically injured in last week’s blast at a factory in Brits in the North West province died in hospital on Monday morning. Michael Rathopo, (42) died in the Pretoria East Hospital’s intensive care unit at about 7.00am. The first victim, Michael Moagi, (54) died at about midnight on Friday. Both men were admitted on Thursday with burn wounds of about 90%. Another eight people are still being treated for lesser burns at the Brits Medi Clinic. Police said 27000 litres of hexane liquid gas exploded at Extracted Oils and Resin (Pty) Ltd around 8.40am on Thursday. The explosion destroyed about one third of the factory and caused damage of R15 million.
