Angie Clifton-Parks opened South Africa’s count when she outplayed Bushra Haider, but Zarak Jahan Khan levelled matters accounting for Adrian Hansen. Glenn Whittaker then turned in a dazzling display to dispose of Amjad Khan, ranked 16 in the world, in straight games. South Africa now meet the winners of the France-Wales clash in the 5th/6th playoff with prize money of R25000 at stake. Defending champions are Australia with a linup including Dan Jansen, Rodney Eyles and Michelle Martin ranked No 1 in the world.
