BORDER BEAT PUMAS 22-17

AS farewell’s go it was the kind that might have been penned by Hans Christian Andersen although the homely Basil Kenyon Stadium in East London is an unlikely setting for fairytales. With Border skipper Glen Gelderbloom and most capped player Wayne Weyer both in their final matches before retirement, the home side performed like a bunch of pumpkins in the first half to fall 17-6 behind. But coach Gert Small sprinkled his fairy dust at the interval, Border scored 16 unanswered points and Weyer (who scored 17 of his side’s total) and Gelderbloom were shouldered from the field. All together nw…Aaaahhhh. — MWP
