BILLITON said on Wednesday that it has been notified by Gensec Asset Management — a member of the Sanlam Group — that the shareholding of Sanlam and Rembrandt in Billiton, had decreased from 15,2% to 14,8%. Sanlam and Rembrandt’s shareholding in Billiton is aggregated for the purposes of Section 204 of the Companies Act 1985. “This decrease was solely as a result of Sanlam’s shareholding in Billiton reducing from 6,3% to 5,9%,” said Billiton. Billiton’s shares have been on a downward spiral in recent weeks.
