SHOCK AS SA ATHLETE ELECTRICUTED

SOUTH African weightlifter, Andre Fourie, was forced to withdraw from the All Africa Games on Monday after being electrocuted in the athletes village last week. Fourie was found to be physically unfit on Monday while warming up for his event a week after receiving a shock while walking into the showering area at the village. “Andre Fourie received a slight shock to his left arm whilst in the process of stepping into the shower,” a statement from the organisers said. Fourie was cleared to compete three days ago, but was unable to train until Monday. The electrical fault was fixed and according to Games chairperson, Mthobi Tyamzashe, the “incident was an unfortunate, isolated incident.” — MWP
