TITANS LET IT SLIP

AS the SuperSport Series season progress, the Northerns Titans may well regret their tactics on the final day of their match against Gauteng at Centurion Park on Sunday. Starting the day with a strong chance of an outright victory, Northerns ended with a draw they could have averted. Whether it was negative tactics or just poor judgement from captain Mark Davis is debatable, but a combination of slow batting in the morning session and a play-safe target effectively ruined a thrilling afternoon. By the close of play, Gauteng, forced to chase an impossible 296 for victory, ended on 175 for five. It was a good, positive chase that, a times, even looked threatening.
