WATER SUPPLY HAS 30 YEARS LEFT

NATIONAL co-ordinator of the Rennies Wetlands Project, David Lindley, warned on Wednesday that South Africa’s fresh water supply is expected to run out within 30 years. Lindley said the extent of the recent flooding in the north of the country points to mismanagement of water resources. Lindley said immediate steps must be taken to manage the natural water cycle. He said that proper management of wetlands and river systems will ensure that flood damage is greatly minimised.
