GOODWIN HOSPITALISED AFTER BLOW

ZIMBABWE’S Murray Goodwin was taken to hospital for an X-ray after he was hit on the head by the ball during the second test against West Indies on Sunday. The first innings century-maker was fielding at short leg when he was felled after a massive pulled shot by Ridley Jacobs from a long hop by leg-spinner Brian Murphy. Goodwin, struck just below his helmet, was groggy but conscious when he went off on a stretcher. West Indies were restricted to only 55 runs in the morning session of the third day to reach 161 for five in reply to 308. Captain Jimmy Adams was 33 not out and wicketkeeper Jacobs unbeaten on 27 at lunch. Zimbabwe were again without main bowler Heath Streak because of a back strain. Wavell Hinds was the only wicket to fall during the morning. On 14, he edged a simple catch to Alistair Campbell at first slip.
