THE West Indies have recalled hard-hitting opener Philo Wallace, all-rounder Laurie Williams and fast bowler Mervyn Dillon for the opening two matches of their one-day triangular series starting at the weekend. Their first two matches are both against Zimbabwe, in Jamaica on Saturday and Sunday, with Pakistan, the third team in the tournament, arriving next week. Veteran fast bowler Courtney Walsh, who on Monday became the most successful bowler in test cricket with 435 wickets, was not named in the 14-man squad. The 37-year-old Walsh and opening batsman Adrian Griffith are the only players omitted from the team which won both tests against Zimbabwe. Pakistan play Zimbabwe in their first match at the Antigua Recreation Grounds on April 5.
The squad:
Jimmy Adams (skipper), Sherwin Campbell, Christopher Gayle, Philo Wallace, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Wavell Hinds, Ricardo Powell, Ridley Jacobs, Reon King, Mervyn Dillon, Curtly Ambrose, Franklyn Rose, Nehemiah Perry, Laurie Williams.
