BOTSWANA DELIVERS FUEL TO ZIM

THE government of Botswana has delivered 81 tanker-loads of fuel to Zimbabwe, which is facing a fuel crisis. Six tankers held aviation gas, 41 contained diesel, and petrol was transported in the remaining 34 tankers. That brings the amount of fuel Botswana has delivered to Zimbabwe to more than 4-million litres. The delivery is part of assistance that Botswana promised Zimbabwe and Mozambique in February to cope with the effects of Cyclone Eline. Zimbabwe, which asked for 20-million litres of fuel aid, is receiving assistance on commercial terms, the agency said. However, Botswana’s offer of one million litres of fuel aid to flood-ravaged Mozambique is a humanitarian gesture aimed at helping with rescue operations.
