Former president Nelson Mandela is to appear in a new telecoms advertisement to be aired in Italy. The Telecom Italia ad features archive footage of Mandela addressing a 1995 conference on telecommunications in Geneva, as well as images of Johannesburg township life. It has been directed by Spike Lee and features music by Oscar-winner Ennio Morricone. The ad, which will be flighted on Sunday, is part of a Telecom Italia campaign also starring Woody Allen and Marlon Brando.
