LOBI STARS COACH SACKED

THE coach of Nigeria’s Lobi Stars, who are representating the country in the African Champions League, has been dismissed, a top club official said on Monday. “Coach Godwin Uwua has been sacked,” club secretary Francis Ijiga said. Another top official was also sacked and Uwua was replaced by Andrew Agu, one of the junior officials in the coaching team. “The management of the club hopes that this reorganisation will restore sanity in the club as well as improve the morale of the players, ” the club secretary added. The shake-up at Lobi, currently wallowing mid-table after winning the league last year, followed the 1-1 draw the team recorded at home with Primeiro do Agosta in the first leg, second round match of the African Champions League, earlier this month. The return leg is to be played in Angola next weekend. The winner of this tie will qualify for the group stages of the lucrative continental competition.
