HANSIE Cronje has admitted to leaving an amount of R3000 he received for providing forecasts out of his testimony on Thursday, saying that it was an oversight because it was made late at night and that he was “not in a good state.” Cronje told the Commission that he “struck up a relationship” with Marlon Aronstam, who gave Cronje a “gift” of R50000 and a leather jacket after he forfeited an innings in the fifth Test against England at Centurion. Cronje said that Aronstam and himself spoke on the phone about “thirty” times, and Cronje said that he gave Aronstam a forecast on the match between South Africa and Zimbabwe in Johannesburg. Cronje said that South Africa bowled Zimbabwe out for “more or less” the score he had forecast, and that Aronstam gave him R3000 cash at the Sandton Sun hotel. Cronje said that he gave Aronstam’s son a shirt signed by the South African team. Cronje said that the amount was not included in his testimony last Thursday because it was “a complete oversight” from his side.
