More awards for Madiba

Former South African President Nelson Mandela has received the International Freedom Award from a museum at the site where US civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968. Mandela never mentioned King during the awards banquet, but referred to the place of Memphis in the history of civil rights. The 82-year-old Mandela told 1 500 people who saw him receive the National Civil Rights Museum’s top award that the greatest threat to freedom everywhere is the growing divide between the rich and poor.
