Farm attackers scald woman’s face

DUMISANE LUBISI, Marble Hall | Tuesday

FIVE farm attackers poured boiling water into a woman’s face while her paraplegic husband watched helplessly and stole R30 000 cash early Monday morning.

Gawie and Marie-Claire Crevitz were asleep when unknown men broke the lock on a sliding door to enter the house on plot H206B in Marble Hall at about 2.25am.

They overpowered the couple in their bedroom and demanded money, said provincial police representative Superintendent Izak van Zyl.

“The men said the money was not enough and demanded to know where the underground safe was situated in the house,” he explained.

The couple said they didn’t have an underground safe and the man then boiled water and poured it over Mrs Crevitz’s face.

The men also stole a pistol and cell phone before fleeing in a getaway vehicle, which the couple did not see.

The couple called police who immediately launched a search and Mrs Crevitz was rushed to hospital where her burns were treated and bandaged before she was discharged.
