TWO people were arrested and almost 5 000 crayfish tails seized when officials of the anti-poaching programme, Operation Neptune, raided several houses at Hawston near Hermanus on Sunday, police said. Police representative Inspector Eben Groenewald said on Monday that diving equipment during the raid had been confiscated outside a house in Downing Street, Hawston. A man was arrested later on the coast near Hermanus and 10 undersized shelled perlemoen were confiscated after a tip-off from the public. A further 27 shelled perlemoen and 18 shucked abalone were also confiscated at Sandbaai, Hermanus but no-one was arrested. – Sapa
