SA Airways has invited the South African public to help name 61 of the national carrier’s new aircraft.
South Africans have until the end of this month to come up with names for the 40 Airbuses, the first of which has been named after the former president Nelson Mandela, and 21 Boeings.
SAA is also looking for a name for the new business class on its airbus fleet, which is a combination of the former first and business classes.
Each name should not contain more than 20 characters and should reflect the values and culture embodied by the airline. The name should also be easily pronounceable, understandable and inspirational, SAA said.
Participants in the naming exercise have a chance to win one of 61 domestic return tickets.
The 61 winners automatically qualify to be included in a draw where one of them will win a five-night all-expenses paid holiday for two to Disney World, Florida, in the United States.
Details of the competition and the name forms can be found on the SAA website at www.flysaa.com. – Sapa
