A last minute header by substitute Stanton Fredericks earned Kaizer Chiefs a hard fought 1-0 win over plucky Golden Arrows in their Castle Premiership match played at the FNB stadium on Wednesday night.
There was no score at half-time.
Amakhosi had the better of the game and just about deserved their three points which keeps them in touch with the leaders.
However, Chiefs looked rusty after their five week layoff due to having seven players at the recent African Nations Cup finals in Tunisia.
The best player of the first half was veteran midfielder John ”Shoes” Moshoeu. Moshoeu was in the thick of the action throughout the match and forced visiting keeper Francis Chansa to pull off a great save from his 26th minute bullet.
A minute from the break Moshoeu set up teammate David Radebe who wasted the chance by ballooning the ball over the crossbar.
Moshoeu was narrowly wide with a screamer in the 51st minute.
Just when it looked as though Arrows would hold on for a valuable draw, Fredericks broke the hearts of the Arrows players when he thudded home a cross by fellow substitute Kabamba Musasa in the 90th minute to give Chiefs their hard-earned three points. – Sapa
