Ronaldo set for another two years

Brazil World Cup star Ronaldo has extended his contract at Real Madrid two years to 2008, the Spanish champions announced ono Tuesday.

Fifa World Player of the Year for a third year in 2002, Ronaldo joined Real from Inter Milan for €45-million two years ago after scoring eight goals in the World Cup and leading his country to its fifth triumph.

”I am delighted because I am very happy at this club and in this city,” Ronaldo said on Real’s website.

He is Real’s leading scorer with 22 goals this season, one fewer than he scored all season last year when Real won their 29th league title.

The 27-year-old previously played for Cruzeiro, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona and Inter. He has scored 50 goals in 75 internationals.

Two weeks ago Real agreed a new contract with Zinedine Zidane that will keep the 31-year-old France play-maker in Madrid until 2007.

The 1998 World Cup winner’s contract had been due to run out in 2005.
