In a restructuring of senior management after poor results, two executives at Transnet have announced their departure from the parastatal, the company said on Tuesday.
The company said human resources executive Ziyanda Danana will vacate her post on September 30. Sindi Mabaso, the chief financial officer, leaves on November 30.
”I’m parting with Transnet on an amicable basis to pursue other challenges,” said Danana.
Mabaso said: ”I’m most grateful to my colleagues, more particularly those in group finance, for the contribution they have helped me make to the Transnet group even in the most difficult times for the group.”
Transnet chief executive Maria Ramos thanked the two managers for their contribution to the company and wished them well.
She said Mabaso has ”agreed to assist in the hand-over process”.
Transnet’s entire board — except for the newly appointed Ramos — resigned last week. Other sweeping changes to the way it does business are expected to prevent a repetition of its R6,3-billion loss for the financial year ended March 31.
The group’s R600-million-a-year head office will be trimmed and restructured and the loss-making South African Airways will be kicked out of the Transnet stable, but will remain a state asset. — Sapa
