South Africa’s best selling car — it’s held that title for an incredible 22 years on the trot — has had a facelift, along with a model realignment that sees the Toyota Corolla 180i GLE and 180i GLS Auto replaced by the 180i GLS and the 180i GSX AT respectively. The models have all received new grilles and front bumpers, while the rear ends now boast new tail light clusters. Five additional metallic colours have been added to Toyota’s line-up, and the interiors have been revamped, with GSX models gaining “Optitron” instrument illumination and a smoked wood finish on the centre console.
GLS and GSX specification vehicles now come with six-disc CD shuttles with steering-wheel remote controls, and the GLX also gains remote power mirrors. One-touch power windows are now fitted to all four doors of GSX spec vehicles.
GLS models now also come with front passenger airbags and a passenger seat belt pretensioner. Prices for the ten model range run from R109 323 for the 140i to R201 476 for the full-house 180i GSX AT. All Corollas come with a five year/90 000 km service plan and a three year/100 000 km warranty.
