AngloPlat says previous wage offer was final

The wage offer made by world number one platinum miner Anglo Platinum to the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) last week was final and the group called on the union to reconsider its stance regarding its strike, AngloPlat spokesperson Mike Mtataki said on Monday.

AngloPlat is offering a wage increase of 7,25%, a service increment of 0,5% and a further increase of 0,33%, he added. NUM was last demanding an increase of 9%.

The NUM and other unions are on strike at AngloPlat’s operations.

Regarding production losses, Mtataki said absenteeism stood at 30% at some of AngloPlat’s operations, while at other operations there was a full turn out.

Production losses at AngloPlat’s operations were “minimal”, he added. – I-Net Bridge
