The Inkatha Freedom Party has expressed its shock at the suspension of Compensation Fund commissioner Bongiwe Ncube, apparently under investigation for management irregularities.
”The IFP demands that the case be discussed openly,” IFP labour spokesperson Prince Nhlahla Zulu said in a statement on Wednesday.
”We cannot allow the commissioner of the Compensation Fund to bring the department into disrepute. She should set the example to other personnel,” Zulu said.
Minister of Labour Membathisi Mdladlana announced Ncube’s suspension on Tuesday for ”bringing the department into disrepute”.
She is being investigated for management irregularities, he said. She will be suspended until the investigation is completed.
Spokesperson Page Boikanyo said he could not give details of the allegations or the investigation, as it has legal implications.
He said Ncube will be replaced by Nerine Khan until further notice.
Khan is well qualified to take up the position, said Boikanyo, and has ”extensive knowledge” in labour relations.
