Dynamos’ impressive home winning streak came to an abrupt end when they went down 2-1 to a revitalised Mamelodi Sundowns in a Premier Soccer League match at Giyani Stadium on Saturday.
Dynamos led 1-0 at the break.
Despite the result, the home side gave Sundowns a run for their money, particularly in the second half.
The home side clearly needed the services of their red-hot marksman Sandile Ndlovu, who could not play against his former team because of contractual obligations.
Ndlovu was loaned by Sundowns to Dynamos at the beginning of this season and his contract does not permit him to play against his official employer.
Dynamos goal came through speedy winger Saul Mmethi after a solo effort on the stroke of half-time.
However, it only took the visitors — clearly rejuvenated after the interval — one minute to equalise through Surprise Moriri from the penalty spot.
According to referee Ace Ncobo, defender Rodney Thobejane had brought down Sundowns striker Paulus Masehe inside the box.
Thabiso Rammile then scored what amounted to the winner with a powerfully struck low shot from close range in the 50th minute.
The visitors continued to press while Dynamos also created several good chances of their own. — Sapa
