Jobless man admits burying needles in fried chicken

Japanese police have arrested an unemployed man for burying needles in fried chicken at a supermarket and swallowing them in a bid to get money from the store, police and reports said on Wednesday.

Police launched an investigation last week after Kyosuke Miyasako (43) told the supermarket in the Tokyo suburb of Sayama that he had eaten needles in its chicken and another customer found needles in sushi.

But the probe turned on Miyasako and he was arrested on Tuesday for obstructing the shop’s business with fake claims, a police spokesperson said.

”I wanted money,” Miyasako, who was unemployed, was quoted as saying by Jiji Press.

An X-ray found four needles each measuring two centimetres long in his belly, but he was not injured.

Miyasako allegedly buried needles in sushi cones at the same store. The 37-year-old man who bought them was unhurt as he noticed the needles before eating the sushi. – Sapa-AFP
