Santos’ battle against relegation received a boost when they beat Black Leopards 2-0 in a Premiership Soccer League match played at Thohoyandou Stadium on Tuesday.
Santos led 1-0 at half-time.
Santos striker Carlo Scott put the visitors ahead in the 30th minute with an easily taken goal. The Cape side continued to exert pressure in search for more goals, but were denied by some brilliant saves by Leopards goalkeeper Walter Khumalo.
The second half saw a more composed Leopards side, and the introduction of striker Mulondo Sikhwivhilu in the 48th minute gave the hosts a more dangerous look.
Sikhwivhilu gave the Santos defence a torrid time and he was unlucky not to be rewarded a penalty in the 76th minute after being pushed by a Santos defender inside the box. Referee Daniel Bennett was not moved by the claims.
Santos substitute Jean-Marcithier put the result beyond doubt with a great solo effort in the 81st minute.
