Bucks pay for wasted chances

Mamelodi Sundowns beat wasteful Bush Bucks 2-0 during their Premier Soccer League clash played at HM Pitje Stadium in Mamelodi on Sunday.

The half-time score was 1-0.

Bucks created most of the opening-half chances but were denied by Sundowns goalkeeper Brian Baloyi, who was outstanding between the poles.

They attacked as early as the 10th minute through striker Bulelani Matroos after beating Sundowns defender Michael Manzini but once again it was Baloyi who blocked their path.

MInutes later, Sundowns attacked Bucks through improving striker Paulus Masehe, who blasted his shot over the crossbar of Bucks goalkeeper Tampunku Dikete.

Masehe got it right in the 22nd minute when he managed to beat Dikete with a close-range shot after being given space in the box.

Sundowns came back strongly in the second half as they went out to increase their lead but the Bucks defence stood firm.

But the visitors were punished for a short loss in concentration in the 68th minute and Bafana Bafana defender Thabiso Rammile slammed home the goal with a close-range shot. — Sapa
