SAA, SA Airlink extend partnership

South African Airways and SA Airlink will extend their existing partnership until October next year, the two airlines announced on Monday.

They were to have ended their current commercial agreement at the end of this year, they said in a joint statement.

The extension would allow both airlines to move onto a new computer system simultaneously.

”The long-term plan for the relationship beyond October 2006 is to form an alliance, which will allow SA Airlink to grow in all markets.

”SA Airlink will have the opportunity to serve any route [domestic and regional], which is commercially viable to it, ultimately making room for more competitiveness, while continuing to provide a feeder service to SAA,” the statement read. – Sapa
