Celtic secure vital PSL victory

Bloemfontein Celtic secured a vital Premier Soccer League (PSL) win on Sunday afternoon, defeating high-flying Ajax Cape Town 2-0 in a rescheduled match in Potchefstroom.

The match was due be played last year, but owing to the pitch not meeting Fifa requirements, the game was called off by the referee.

The PSL then ruled that Celtic should be punished by not having home-ground advantage and that the match should be rescheduled at a neutral venue.

On Sunday, though, Celtic rose to the occasion, scoring the two goals in the first half through Elias Ngwepe and Moses Spandeel respectively.

In the second half, the Bloemfontein team closed up shop and just defended their lead. The victory moves them further away from the relegation zone.

Celtic have been rejuvenated since the axing of coach Paul Dolezar and have won three of their past four PSL matches. — Sapa
