The naked body of man was found lying next to the railway line between Sharon Park and Dunottar on Johannesburg’s East Rand, police said on Monday.
Spokesperson Superintendent Andy Pieke said the body — in the early stages of decomposition — had wounds indicating he may have been thrown off a moving train.
The man was naked except for his white socks, and was found on Monday at about 5.30pm.
Pieke said police would investigate the possibility that the man’s death may be connected to the ongoing strike by security guards, which has been marked by violence.
A number of security guards in civilian clothes have been thrown off trains since the South African Transport and Allied Workers’ Union strike began on March 23. — Sapa
