Pretoria police were investigating the case on Monday of a man who had kept his mother’s corpse in a fridge for five years, police said.
Inspector Katlego Mogale said the man had kept the body in a coffin in his Colby home for five years after his mother died from a stroke.
Mogale said police were investigating whether the man had permission from the municipality to keep the body.
”We are collecting necessary information to give police an indication of how to proceed in the matter.”
Under normal circumstances, the man would be charged with concealing the death of a person, but he had obtained a death certificate.
