Television bosses launched an investigation on Tuesday after a newsreader flashed her tummy and exchanged risqué banter with a colleague, not realising she was live on air.
Emma Baker of Anglia Television, which broadcasts to viewers in eastern England, also fiddled with her bra and apparently addressed a co-worker as “Mrs Shameless”.
Anglia spokesperson Jim Woodrow insisted that she could have been addressing an editor called Seamus, apologised to viewers and said managers were looking into how the mix-up happened.
It is thought it could have been due to technicians beaming pictures from the studio before the bulletin was due on air.
One viewer, Sally Fox, told London’s free-sheet Metro newspaper that Baker (26) looked as if she had been “hit by a thunderbolt” when she was told what had happened in front of millions of viewers. — AFP
