British police arrested a man in the eastern English city of Cambridge on Monday in connection with a series of letter-bomb attacks in the past few months.
Police made the arrest, which they described as ”very significant” between 3am and 4am local time. They said the man was in his 20s.
”Forensic search teams are commencing what is going to be a lengthy search at a residential address in Cambridge,” a police statement said.
Six people were hurt in Swansea, south Wales, on February 7 by the seventh letter bomb in a three-week campaign. At least three targets were linked to the enforcement of traffic rules, leading to media speculation that a disgruntled motorist was to blame.
Police have said they believe the bombs — packed into padded envelopes — were intended to shock, not kill, and no one has been seriously injured.
Police detained another man earlier this month under mental health laws after he said he sent one of the letter bombs. — Reuters
