Stenson wins WGC match-play crown

Sweden’s Henrik Stenson defeated US Open champion Geoff Ogilvy of Australia two and one on Sunday to win the $8-million World Golf Championships (WGC) Accenture Match-Play Championship.

Stenson became just the second European to win the elite event and denied Ogilvy’s bid to join Tiger Woods as a back-to-back winner of the tournament, which moved to the Arizona desert this year after being played seven of the past eight years at La Costa near San Diego, California.
