SABMiller completes deal for rights for Grolsch

Global brewing giant SABMiller said on Tuesday that it has concluded an agreement with Anheuser-Busch to transfer the United States importation rights for the Grolsch brand to its US joint venture, MillerCoors.

The transfer will be effective from August 1, and in addition to Grolsch Premium Lager, the deal also incorporates the entire Grolsch portfolio, including Grolsch Amber Ale, Grolsch Light Lager and Grolsch Blonde Lager.

In 2007, Grolsch imports into the US grew to approximately 215 000 hectolitres. Imported beers have grown at nearly 10% per year for the last three years and now make up 15% of the US beer market, SABMiller said. — I-Net Bridge
