Laila Ali, daughter of three-time heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali, is expected to fight on the undercard of the Lennox Lewis-Kirk Johnson heavyweight title fight on June 21 in Los Angeles. Ali has a record of 14-0 with 11 knockouts.
She will be fighting Valerie Mahfood (13-5) in a rematch of their bout in November, the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday. Ali won that fight in an eight-round TKO.
Mahfood is a former worker at an all-male maximum security prison.
Also on the Staples Centrer arena undercard is Lucia Rijker of he Netherlands. Rijker (15-0, 14 knockouts) will square off against Mia St. John (27-3-1, 13 knockouts). She is a talented boxer, while St. John is best known for posing in Playboy magazine.
Lewis, born in England but raised in Canada, is 40-2 with one draw and 31 knockouts. He has not fought since his eighth-round knockout of Mike Tyson last June in Memphis. – Sapa-AFP
