‘It was too easy’

In the latest installment of our series on the National Senior Certificate exams, we look at the Geography paper which was written today.

David Miller, principal and head of grade 12 at Norman Henshilwood High School in Cape Town shared his views on the exam with the Teacher, and it was not all praise.

“To be honest, I think the paper was just too easy,” he said. “The weaker learners would have enjoyed the level of questioning but their more advanced classmates would not have been challenged at all.”

“Most of the learners I spoke to found it very manageable, but there were actually a few who seemed disappointed with the paper.”

Miller says the final paper was ‘on par’ with the exemplar and commended the examiners for matching the core content to the curriculum, but there ‘were no surprises’.
