June manufacturing output up

South Africa’s manufacturing output rose by a more-than-expected 8,8% year-on-year in volume terms in June, from a revised 8,1% growth in May, Statistics South Africa said on Wednesday.

Compared with May, factory production in volume terms rose by a seasonally adjusted 0,7% in June. Output was up 0,8% in the three months to June, compared with the previous three months, also on a seasonally adjusted basis.

A Reuters poll last week predicted production would be up 6,8% year-on-year.
