Igesund Names Bafana Squad To Face Morocco

Igesund named his 23-man Bafana Bafana squad on Tuesdat to take on Morocco in an international friendly on October 13.

The game will take place at the Agadir New Stadium in Agadir City, Morocco, with a return fixture scheduled to take place in South Africa early next year.

According to Kickoff website Igesund was pleased that Morocco invited Bafana to play in their new stadium: "We jumped at the opportunity because of the fact that between now and the 2015 Afcon qualifiers there are only two Fifa calendar dates to prepare for those qualifiers.

"So this gives me a great opportunity to have a look at some players, and had we not taken this opportunity we would have had to wait for March 2014 to prepare for our first 2015 Afcon qualifier in September."

The selection is on average 24 years old and includes five players new to Bafana. Igesund had to replace injured goalgetter Siphiwe Tshabalala. No Orlando Pirates players could be selected – save for Kermit Erasmus – as they play the semi-final of the CAF Champions League in Tunisia a few days later.
