The Mail & Guardian was nominated in three categories: Best Tablet Publication, Best Editorial Team and Best Publisher.

The annual Bookmarks awards, which recognises and rewards digital publishing and agencies, on Thursday announced the nominees for this year's awards.

The Mail & Guardian was nominated in three categories: Best Tablet Publication, Best Editorial Team and Best Publisher.

The M&G will go up against the Daily Maverick and Sarie for the Best Editorial Team prize. For Best Publisher, the M&G will compete against Burn Media, Daily Maverick and EyeWitness News, while Best Tablet Publication will be between the M&G and Coronation Corospondent.

In 2010, the M&G received two awards in the category for microsites. The M&G's special soccer World Cup site won a silver, while the tribute site to Nelson Mandela was awarded first place and a gold. Judges decided not to award a bronze, which effectively gave the M&G a clean sweep of the category.

The award ceremony will take place at Artscape in Cape Town on November 14.
