Zuma’s lawyer, Michael Hulley, confirmed by telephone from the Indian Ocean island that his client was meeting with legal representatives about documents that allegedly contain proof of bribes being solicited.

In the run-up to the ANC’s national conference at Polokwane, analysts and journalists had a field day, predicting that the movement was on the verge of a major showdown that might even result in a split. This gloomy picture was informed by what became known as the succession debate.
Arms-deal corruption must be probed by an independent judiciary, Independent Democrats (ID) leader Patricia de Lille said on Tuesday. ”It is the African National Congress’s right to set up an ad-hoc committee on the arms deal, but we in the ID want all the allegations of corruption in the deal to be tested by an independent judiciary,” said De Lille.
