Gauteng’s party scene has recovered from its January slump with two exciting dance events planned for this month.
Love and thumping beats are in the air on Saturday February 12 when Mother Productions presents From Mother with Love. It takes place at a new venue, the Warehouse Complex at 11 North Reef Road, Bedfordview, and features three dance floors with the music being provided by top local DJs from all over South Africa including Neil Ward, Paul Almeida, Stuart H, Shaun, Speedy, Sean Lord and Ready D. The revelling continues on Saturday February 26, when the Electric Workshop in Newtown, Johannesburg, is transformed into a world of dance with ICEand 5fm’s Alcatel Freedom Dance Festival 2000.
The event will feature no fewer than 12 areas in and around the Electric Workshop, with each area catering to a specific musical style.
The main dance floor boasts top DJ talents such as Alan Inferno, Ready D, Derek the Bandit and Stuart H. There will also be a 206 drum’n’bass/ big beat floor, a house floor (hosted by DNA), Rob OK’s techno vs trance floor, an ambient chill floor and an area promoting new DJ talent, such as live actChromogene.
You’ll also be able to chill out in the acid jazz and deep house area to the sound of the Cohen Brothers, relax in the Rustler’s teepee village, buy trinkets at the flea market or gape at the BDI performers. Top band Sugardrive will also be playing.
